Jeremiah entered the property claims industry during the tumultuous hurricane seasons of 2004-05. He swiftly became a sought-after General Adjuster in the Southeastern US for various independent adjusting firms and later assumed the role of Executive General Adjuster, specializing in complex commercial and high-net-worth claims, having managed over 10,000 claims in his first 15 years of his career.
Between 2017-18, Jeremiah established Deft Claims to offer property carriers consistent and specialized expertise in complex claims handling. Subsequently, Deft Consultants and Deft Tech were launched in 2019 to provide supplementary consulting, appraisal, and advanced imaging services. Deft Group was then created in 2020 to act as the umbrella organization for the Deft companies. The most recent addition, Deft Risk, joined the Deft Group portfolio in 2023-24, aligning with the shift towards claims-informed risk management services.
Jeremiah, through the Deft Group entities, advocates for a data-driven approach that emphasizes prediction and prevention, where claims knowledge guides pre-loss risk fortification at the individual building level. He is dedicated to a more comprehensive and sustainable method of risk transfer, achieved through a focus on enhancing building resilience and fostering robust partnerships among producers, carriers, policyholders, and contractors.
