Description

Great Plains States like Texas (the hail capital of the world) continue to experience significant hailstorms, windstorms, tornadoes, and flash floods each year. But not all hailstorms, windstorms, and tornadoes are created equal. Thunderstorms, hailstorms, and tornadoes rapidly develop, they strengthen and weaken, affect one part of town but not the other, and they don't always cause "damage". Severe hailstorms recently pummeled parts of the Dallas area again, but not all areas saw damage. From an adjuster and legal standpoint, knowing when hail or wind damage occurred is fundamentally important. Proving what date or dates hail or wind damage from a thunderstorm or tornado occurred is crucial to determining coverage, or even whether a different carrier owes coverage. We will use large loss case studies from Texas to explore how adjusters and engineers use automated reports, or other times weather expert reports, to assist in structural evaluations to determine damage and loss. Important updates and information highlighting recent case law from Texas and other states, including the precluding of some experts from using automated weather reports, will all be part of this engaging and interactive presentation.
